Featured Project: Fundraising a $3.2M Inclusive Playground

Teddy & Friends Inclusive Playground is an Unlimited Play inclusive playground at Queeny Park in St. Louis, located approximately 20 minutes west of the city limits. The project was spearheaded by a woman named Erin Gooch and her son, Teddy, who lives with dwarfism.
After a playdate at another Unlimited Play playground, Erin reached out to our team for support to design a one-of-a-kind inclusive play destination that could replace the previous playground at Queeny Park, which was slated to be torn down due to safety concerns. The size and scope of the project came with a substantial $3.2M fundraising goal — but Erin was on a mission, and leaned on the Unlimited Play team for support to bring this project to life.
In two years, the team behind Teddy & Friends met their total fundraising goal with:
- A successful community lemonade stand fundraiser
- Profit-sharing from T-shirts, bracelets and other merchandise sales
- Corporate partnerships and in-kind donations from area businesses
- Matching donations from an angel investor in the local community
- High-profile media coverage from prominent St. Louis radio and news outlets
- Marketing support from Unlimited Play for key campaigns . . . and more!
With courage, determination and fundraising help from our team, what started as one mom’s dream turned into Teddy & Friends Inclusive Playground: a place for EVERYONE to play and a gift to the St. Louis community that will be enjoyed for years to come.
